Wouldn’t you like to feel closer to Mt. Fuji?✨ Recently, I had the chance to stay at Hotel Kaneyamaen, and I’d like to share the wonders of Yamanashi with you. In Hokuto City, Yamanashi, there is an exciting initiative targeting Thai tourists. Mt. Fuji is extremely popular among the people of Thailand, and many visit every year. However, just viewing it isn’t enough, right? Hokuto City is collaborating with Thai visitors to promote the local attractions. The city is sharing its beautiful natural scenery, delicious local food, and heartfelt “omotenashi” (hospitality) with the world by enhancing its content distribution in Thai using tools like the MATCHA Contents Manager. This has successfully brought more global attention to Hokuto City’s charm【1】.

In 2018, Yamanashi hosted about 1.43 million foreign tourists, ranking 12th nationwide. Notably, 65% of these visitors were from China, followed by Taiwan (8.84%) and South Korea (8.82%)【2】. Yamanashi’s main attractions include Mt. Fuji, its hot springs, nature, and rich cultural experiences, and efforts are being made to boost inbound tourism further. Particularly, promoting to tourists from China and Taiwan is becoming increasingly important. However, there are still challenges such as language barriers and improving local facilities.
